Studs (and there is nothing masculine about them!)

Whether you are a wild child or need to add some pizazz to an outfit, studded accessories are a great way to express your inner tough girl. Metallic details such as studs pair well with colors and neutrals, and chances are these accessories would get a lot of use so don't be afraid to splurge on an investment piece.

Studded shoes such as the Tory Burch stud ballet flats are a great example of fashion and function in unison. L.A. designer Dafne Balatsos has a line of gothic studded and spiked purses which are a tad pricy at around $800 each, but they are truly works of art. My favorite studded accessory is the Givency by Riccardo Tisci leather and metal studded headband. It definitely requires a lot of confidence and hair full of body to pull it off, and is a unique piece for an accessory lover.

If accessories with studs aren't for you, how about a studded leather jacket thrown over a cute dress or your favorite pair of jeans? Topshop's stud biker jacket is a very reasonable $115!

Bringing Back Wide Legs

After a few years with the skinny jean, it seems fashion is restoring to the 1970's by bringing back the wide leg jean. It seems that this spring season more and more of us will turn to wide-leg jeans, not as a substitute for skinnies, but as an addition to our denim collection.

If worn probably and with the correct upper half pairings wide-leg jeans can be both figure flattering and fashionable. Wide-leg jeans can be very easy to wear you just need to remember a few tricks.

First in order to counteract the bottom-heavy pant legs try pairing them with a fitted, tucked in blouse. And second since most wide-leg jeans are made with a higher waist becareful of the style and fit you choose because the wrong fit can result in a long bum appearance, and lets face it who really wants that? To avoid the long bum syndrome untuck your top and belt it up.

Spring is shaping up to be a great season, keep checking back here for more Spring fashion must haves.

Usher’s clothing line on hold

R & B sensation Usher is putting off the launch of his clothing line due to the economy. With people strapped for cash and Usher’s clothes not being cheap he doesn’t think it’s the right time.

“In this economy and with my style and attention to detail, my clothes won't come cheap. It's not the right time."

What do you think will make his clothing line different than any other star like Beyonce with House of Dereon or Nelly with the Apple Bottom line?

Let’s hope the wait is worth it!

Mix up your look with a cardigan

Men have always envied the little black dress on women. We can wear it to an office party or change the jewelry and wear it to a cocktail dinner. Well listen up men because I have your solution.

It’s all about the cardigan. Here’s how you can wear it for different occasions. A day at the office; you can wear a button up shirt under it, no tie. A cocktail party; a dress shirt and tie. A night out with the guys; wear a t-shirt under your cardigan.

Switch it up, different color shirts and different color cardigans. The other good thing is that cardigans don’t cost too much so you can afford to get a few different colors and look fashionable, manly and of course sexy at all your holiday parties and celebrations.

Islamic Fashion coming to Paris?

Fifty-Seven year old Ng Swee Kuang who is the creator of the brand “Ornel Soie” has asked a Malaysian designer to work with him.

Ng says “This is the kind of fashion that does not exist around here. Europeans are highly fashionable but they do not know the requirements of Islamic fashion.”

His brand “Ornel Soie” already has great clients which include Moga in New York, Jenny Vo in Kobe, Louis Ferraud in Paris, Nelly Alexander Fashion in Canada and much more.Ng’s fashion idea has received the support of the national president of the Society of Best Craftmen of France, Olgo Saurat.

Designer Ng with models wearing his creations.

“I am a Chinese but there is no barrier in fashion. I can also work with Malay designers who are more knowledgeable to develop Malaysian fashion,” said Ng.

He is able to create between 15 to 20 designs a month!

Rock Chic leg harness, $80

Boyfriend Blazers

There’s always something sexy about a woman wearing men’s shirts or jackets.

This season we’ve already been through the boyfriend jeans so bring on the blazers. The boyfriend blazer is perfect for dressing up jeans and a t-shirt and it adds a flirty tom boy flare to a girly outfit.

Look inside the sleeves! It’s always fun to have the inside lining of the jacket with a design like stripes or a bright color. That way if you roll the sleeves up a bit you have a different look. With the cold on its way this is definitely a MUST have item.

A Bright Future

Femininity, fit, and pattern are the story of Oscar de la Renta's pre-fall '10 collection. It is easy for gorgeous evening wear to overshadow day and casual-wear in a collection, but Oscar's can definitely keep up. The color palette, fitted jackets, tailored pants, modest yet sexy hem-lines (I could go on) are to die for.

This collection marks the seasonal transition too, from late summer to fall by using bright yellows and reds reminiscent of warmer months paired with muted shades of navy, grey and black. Oscar de la Renta uses so many beautiful prints in this collection, and has mixed-and-matched them perfectly. Some lovely multi-color embroidered patchwork-print, looks are bright and whimsical, and one cute patchwork dress in particular paired with a vermillion cashmere embroidered cardigan is one of my favorite of the collection.

This is not to say that the collection does not feature beautiful evening wear- embroidery, sparkles, bows, ruffles, and lace, all combined with print. It is the work of a true artist.

Best Designer of the Year

The British Fashion Awards took place last night and the bigger winner of the night was Christopher Bailey, Burberry's Creative Director. Bailey was named best designer of the year.

This is not Christopher Bailey's first British Fashion Award, he has previously been recognized with the Menswear Designer of the Year award in 2007 and 2008 and was also named best designer of the year in 2005.

At 38 years old Bailey is Chief Creative Director of Burberry, and is responsible for the design of all Burberry collections and product lines as well as the overall image of the company.

Bailey has helped turn Burberry into a global luxury label and for that we thank him.

Festive Feathers

Feathers incorporated into accessories have been popular for awhile: earrings, necklaces, and the all-important headband. A nice contrast to the sequin-encrusted cocktail dresses at your next holiday party is playing with feathers in a new, fun way: on your feet.

I came across the cutest Pedro Garcia Indira Feather ballet flats on-line today, and everything about them is swoon-worthy. The deep-green iridescent pheasant feathers, bow, and exquisite pearl-topped pin are a unique combination that is bound to draw some attention. My only question: are they worth the $725?

P.S. Don't wear them out in the snow (rain, humidity, or on public transportation)!

High Fashion Goes Low Budget

Yet another label has created a collection for one of America's favorite big box stores. On December 20th, Rodarte's much anticipated Target collection will be available in stores, and the full look book is now available on-line. Best efforts were made to keep the line hush-hush prior to release of the look book, but many looks were leaked on-line anyway (I guess fashionistas know technology as well as fashion!).

The looks are fabulous, especially for their prices (ranging from $9.99-44.99). The line offers day and evening skirts, dresses, tops, jackets, and accessories with a lot of whimsy and character. Knits are paired with sexy lace tights, tulle encased skirts and dresses, and accessorized with bows and animal print. They are a hip and young mix of lady and seductress...with some bite. Considering the line is being released in a popular department store, I'm looking forward to seeing how the public reacts to the pieces.

Target will be carrying the line from December 20th through January 31st, but some swag can be purchased early at Target's Manhattan holiday pop-up shop for those of you in NYC. Happy shopping : )

In Memory of...

From what I understand the recession is suppose to be over. Maybe I'm wrong but I thought things were starting to turn around. But obviously this isn't the case.
After 22 years of their haute couture making runway headlines, the fashion house of Christian Lacroix is set to be closed.

A Paris bankruptcy court has approved a plan to close Christian Lacroix's design house. As a result 100 memebers of the staff will be let go.

Christian Lacroix is a legendary fashion designer for many red carpet celebrities including Uma Thurman. His designs are glamorous, expensive-looking, and unapologetically dramatic. With his background in costume design, his designs are always over the top, he adopts alot of old fashion techniques into his new designs including the corset and the crinoline.

His designs will surely be missed but they will also be celebrated being some of fashions most memorable pieces.

Fashionable and Functional Winter Feet

As temperatures drop and your layers increase, your footwear need not feel embarrassed next to that cute new coat with matching scarf, gloves, and hat you just bought. Whether you are preparing for the cold or the snow, there are some very chic yet functional boots on the market this season.

If you are a label-lover, you can find a good tread and warm lining in some of the most popular Fall 2009/Winter 2010 boots. The Chanel Fall-Winter 2009/10 Collection and Pre-Collection offer several gorgeous boots: heels, flats, varying heights, and varying amounts of lining. The tall metallic shearling boot with metallic signage and 85 mm heel or the medium-height calfskin boot with zip pocket and signature, both from the Pre-Collection, are the perfect examples of the union of fashion and function. Burberry also offers a few winter boot choices, my favorite being their High Weather Boots: a black leather, knee-high, lace-up, flat boot with fur trim.

If you are an outdoorsy girl, Sorel has created a line of seasonal boots that are waterproof, have a full-length fleece lining, are insulated, and are available in a number of fabric designs and styles. With all of the choices, it's likely you will find more than one to-die-for pair to match your favourite cold-weather gear. Their boots are available in sizes 5-12, and in heights ranging from ankle to knee-high.

Depending on your climatic needs this winter (and your footwear budget this holiday season) there is guaranteed to be a fashionable and practical footwear option for you, because you never know when you'll want to have some fun in the snow.

An Auction for the Ages

Rarely is there a fashion icon who is so admired through the generations as Audrey Hepburn, and soon you can own a piece of her timeless wardrobe.

Kerry Taylor Auctions is presenting the exhibition 'Passion for Fashion & Fine Textiles' featuring 'an Important Audrey Hepburn Collection'. The auction consists of both Audrey Hepburn's and Marie Helvin's wardrobes (Marie Helvin was one of the first supermodels of the 70's and 80's, and all-around glamorous woman).

Audrey Hepburn's collection is representative of her simple elegance. Featured clothing pieces include those created by her favorite designer Hubert de Givenchy, Valentino, and Elizabeth Arden; however, they are rivaled by the number of classic Chanel accessories, which are enough to stop a fashionista dead in her tracks. Several of the lots were donated by a lifelong friend of Hepburn, Tanja Star Busmann, who became acquainted when Audrey was 21 and Tanja was a 15 year-old schoolgirl. Audrey passed on a large collection of couture, day wear, and accessories in a variety of designer brands.

The exhibition will be shown by La Galleria London December 6-8, Sotheby's New York November 21-22nd, and Sotheby's Paris December 1-2.

Colour Me In

Remember when you were little and you use to color in coloring books? How fun was that? I know it was pretty damn fun!

Well now you can color in your own dress! Do it yourself fashion is a great new concept that allows you to be the designer. It puts you in charge and allows your creative juices to start flowing.

Berber Sopeboer and Michiel Schuurman's Colour-In Dress is an A-line shift covered in a black and white print that can be coloured in with the included textile markers.

It's a genius idea but there is only one problem. Is it really worth 250 Euros? Which is equal to 370 US dollars. You be the judge.

Karlie and Lola

Once in a while, a very talented and unique model comes into focus who possesses the grace and poise to excel in all facets of the fashion world. A killer walk, flawless physique, and signature 'death stare' have catapulted a teenager from Missouri into the international spotlight in just two short years.

At only 17 years-old, Karlie Kloss has become a true supermodel, walking for designers like Givenchy, John Paul Gaultier, Valentino, Oscar de la Renta and Armani Prive. She is definitely accustomed to couture, as well as opening and closing the some of the most anticipated shows every season.

Karlie has accumulated numerous print ads since signing with her first agency at the age of 15. She became one of the faces of Dolce & Gabbana this year, has had editorials in several international publications, and most recently has become the face of the Lola by Marc Jacobs fragrance. Karlie's popularity was put into focus when she changed agencies from Elite Model Management to Next Models in January of 2008, when Elite sued Next claiming they offered her improper compensation as incentive (rumored to translate to sore feelings).

Her talent is paralleled by models that have been in the business for decades, and her fresh face with trademark birthmark give her a unique and down-to-earth look. I am convinced that Karlie Kloss could sell me anything, whether I can afford it or not. Not surprisingly, Lola is on my holiday wish-list. The fragrance's vibrant, floral sweetness is complimented by a vanilla musk undertone, resulting a seductive and playful mix. Plus, the bottle is really cute.

This Year Victoria Did Have a Secret...

The Victoria's Secret annual lingerie show is the Super Bowl of the fashion world, it is probably the only fashion show guys will watch willingly.

On November 19th in New York City 34 top models were sitting in hair and makeup trying to keep themselves from getting nervous by chit chatting and surfing on their iphones. For some of these girls it was there first time walking in a show this big and all they could think about was not falling.

With performances by the Black Eyed Peas and a legendary model host the show was a huge success, of course there was one surprise which no one expected. Heidi Klum surprised everyone by making a last minute decision to walk in the show. After giving birth to her fourth child just five weeks before it was said that Klum was sitting this show out as she was stilling trying to get back in shape but she felt good enough to walk and she look sensational.

This years show featured a $3 million fantasy bra wore by Marissa Miller. It is encrusted with 2,300 diamonds of various colours and I can only imagine how tight security was, I mean the bra had its own room!

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is always an elabroate production everything is amazing from the lingerie to the props and back drops it's the must see event of the season.

The fashion show will be air on CBS on December 1st, make sure to set your PVR's this is one show you do not want to miss.

Supermodel Turns Designer

After twenty years of walking the runway, Claudia Schiffer, is finally ready to move onto another aspect of the industry.

Claudia Schiffer has decided she's ready to create a collection under her own name. Now while most celebrities turn designers seem to focus all their attention on highly priced evening gowns, Claudia is designing a daytime line with affordable prices. And I think that if her personal style is any reflection of what her line will be like we are in for a big treat.

"I would love to create my own lines now. I want the brand to be timeless and classic, with a fashion sensibility. I would love to do cashmere, it is something I wear all the time myself...I would love to do something that is a bit more price friendly and... a lot of cashmere is very classic, I would like to create something that is a bit more fashion," said Claudia at a luxury conference in Berlin.

Nothing is under way yet as she is currently looking for a business partner but don't worry it's only a matter of time now.

Making Her Claim to Fame

Fashion is always looking for the next big thing. And after last nights CFDA and Vogue Fashion Fund in New York, we may have found it.

Sophie Theallet, winner of $200,000 to help fund and develop her collections, as well as a year-long mentorship with fashion professionals, has a new collection that even the First Lady, Michelle Obama, has taken notice of.

Theallets signature is bohemian luxe seen through the eyes of a sophisticated couturier. Her clothes have a strong French accent, but exude a freedom of spirit that transcends all borders.

Theallet was first noticed by magazine editors in 2009 when she presented her Spring 2009 collection using only African American women. Since then she has made a name for herself on the New York fashion scene.

Sophie Theallet is a designer to definitely watch out for. Take a look through her collection I'm sure you will find pieces that are must haves for your spring wardrobe.

Rumors of Retirement

I know by now most of you have heard the devasting rumors that Karl Lagerfeld is retiring from Chanel. Since June rumors have been flying around that Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz is being considered to take over from Karl Lagerfeld at the house of Chanel.

I think it's time to set the record straight and put everyones mind at ease. Karl Lagerfeld is NOT retiring! Over the weekend, Lagerfeld dismissed the rumors.

"Retirement is not one of the topics with which I deal. Why should I? I still have so many projects that I sometimes don't know where to begin. Chanel will still need some clothes when I'm 89," said Lagerfeld.

Lagerfeld has been creative director for Chanel for 27 years. He is a permanet fixure at the house of Chanel and has no plans of ever leaving.

Check out his Spring 2010 it's my favourite collection.

The Colour of a Camel

Every season there needs to be that one timeless piece, the piece that brings warmth into your otherwise cold winter wardrobe. This season the camel-coloured coat is back.

Often seen on the backs of Katharine Hepburn and Grace Kelly the camel coat makes a classic chic statement. Because of the richness in the colour it makes you appear quite rich even if you are a fashionista on a budget.

Camel can be worn with any colour, which makes it a staple piece in your wardrobe. Right now we are seeing a lot of bright pink and electric blue so the camel colour is a great way to bring warmth to this seasons bright colours.

While there is probably quite a lot of pieces in a camel colour, I would suggest sticking with camel coats. You can always count on them to be instyle even 20 years from now you will look absolutely fabulous in your camel coat.

Shirts Your Way

It's about time someone started taking an interest in men's fashion. http://www.shirtsmyway.com/ is a fashion website that allows men to be their own fashion designer. With over seven million shirt designs users can pick what type of sleeves, collar, buttons and other detailing by dressing an interactive model.

This is a great site for the guy who never finds anything he likes or the guy who has everything but wants something different. So next time your guy tells you he needs a new shirt tell him to go design his own at least you know he will be happy with that one.

This would also make a great gift. You can personally design a shirt for his birthday or even Christmas. It's the perfect gift when you have completely run out of ideas.

Prices range from $75 to $95, which is comparable to any department store except these are your own design so you know they will look good.

Twinkle, Twinkle

The Holiday season is approaching quickly, which means there will be lots of Holiday parties to attend. But what are you going to wear?

Don't stress about it too much because the ideal dress for a cocktail party is at a store near you.

This season it's all about lots of sparkle. Sequins are dominating the Holiday season. The sequin trend isn't about blending in, it's all about getting noticed. A sequin dress is a refreshing alternative to a plain little black dress.

If you're not too keen on an all sequin dress just try to incorporate a little sequin into your Holiday outfit. Whether you choose a shirt, leggings or a skirt you will be certain that all eyes will be on you.

Styl'D

Okay how many of you caught MTV's new reality show, Styl'D, last night? I missed it but I'm watching the episode online.

For those of you who don't know what Styl'D is, it's a reality show where aspiring stylists are chosen for the highly competitive junior assistant program at the Margaret Maldonado Agency, where their work as assistants on real celebrity jobs in the field will be evaluated over eight weeks to determine which of them will be signed to the contract at the end of the program.

The Margaret Maldonado Agency is North America's most prominent agency for fashion and beauty, representing the most sought after wardrobe stylists, hair and make up artists, photographers and up-and-coming designers.

I would love to be on a show like this, as I am an aspiring stylist and this would totally jump start my career. Not only that but working for the Margaret Maldonado Agency would be a dream come true.

These aspiring stylists have a lot of hard work ahead of them but they are competing for a prize of a lifetime so really it's totally worth it.

Catch Styl'D Sunday nights at 10pm on MTV.

A Snood

Wouldn't it be so much easier if fashion combined two of the most essential winter items? Well, thankfully they have, A Snood, winter's hottest trend.

A snood is the scarf-come-hood that goes on over the head and around the neck like a scarf that won't flap away in the wind. It's a genius idea.

A snood is designed for both men and women and comes in great colours, patterns and fabrics. It's so easy to wear, just throw it over your head and go. It's said a snood is a throwback from the 80's but I don't understand why it ever went out of style. Also be sure to check out CHAOS Knits who has a fantastic one. CHAOS Knits launching next month is CHAOS Magazine's accessory knit line. Book mark it now! WWW.CHAOSKNITS.COM

A Nest For Emerging Designers

Ever look back on the days when you first started designing? or maybe you have been designing for a year and are ready to take your business to the next level? Wouldn't it be great to have your own design space? A place where you could receive educational and industry support? Well all that is possible if you live in the New York area.

On Monday, the Bloomberg administration announced a new 10,000 square-foot fashion incubator in the garment district.

"Emerging designers will be able to compete for a dozen spaces on the now vacant fourth floor of 209 West 38th Street, where the rent will only be $1,500 a month - about half the $2,900 market rate for a comparible space," said David Lombino, a spokesman for the city's Economic Development Corporation, which is leading the project.

Now this building won't be easy to get into, the tenants will be selected through a competition, winners will be announced in mid-December with a move in date of February. Applicants must have been in business for a year and half and employ a staff. In addition they must have received some sort of media attention.

The incubator will be a home to established local designers who are looking to take their business to the next step. With seminars held by the Council of Fashion Designers of America, this space will be sure to kick start your career and have you showing at all the major fashion weeks in no time.

Personally, I believe every city should have an incubator for designers!

A Standing Ovation for Jackie Christie

Designer, Jackie, Christie, debuted her first line during the closing celebrations of Los Angeles Fashion Week last Friday night.

To say the show was a hit is a bit of an understatement. We all know how hard fashion critics are to please but Christie won them over by bringing classic lines and sex appeal to the catwalk.

"I have never felt so elated and so honored to show my line," stated Christie. "The audience reaction sent chills up my spine and I couldn't believe how many approached me for orders right after the show. With proceeds benefiting the Infinite Love Foundation for student scholarships, I can't thank Los Angeles enough for the warm reception."

Christie is one of the few new designers to experience a standing ovation following their show. Chrisite embraced the idea of everyday women. Her clothes represent designs for every woman from tall to short and slender to shapely. Her show sent a position message to women everywhere, allowing them to feel comfortable in their own skin.

Model Watch: Sweden is so hot right now.

If you've taken a look at the current runway shows happening in Sweden, you'll know what I mean. The models coming from there are insanely beautiful, show stopping, head turning, call it what you will but that country is producing some of the fashion industries next stars. Living up to Sweden's reputation is Ester Apelskog, 16 of Gothenburg. Ester's look is mesmerising- curiously striking ice blue eyes, long golden locks, and the perfect pout. Scouted by MIKAs and already signed with IMG worldwide, Ester is proof that the Swedish invasion is in full effect. If you are a reader of CHAOS you would have noticed the CHAOS Model Watch section's girls were all from Sweden this last issue. Ironic? Or is CHAOS just ahead of the game? :)

Until next time, kisses. -B

CHAOS shoots Gabe Witmer

Today we are shooting Gabe Witmer of Ford Models for the Winter Issue. Gabe hails from the beachy town of Santa Cruz, Northern California's surfer cove. This Cali boy has plenty of personality and a laid back spirit that is strongly seen through his images. Recently, a fan favorite at Levis, Gabe is the '514 Skinny jeans' fit model. Those sexy jeans we love seeing on all the boys are made off of this surfers bod, and from looking at that photo to the left, I can see why.

Look for Gabe's editorial in this coming PRINT issue of CHAOS, Winter 09/10.

Until next time, kisses. -B

Model Watch: Hallo, Philipp Michael!

6'2, blond hair, blue eyes, and a photo like that to the left, this boy has 'heart breaker' written all over him. Andreu from Icon Models discovered this handsome lad while on the metro in Barcelona, thank you Andreu. Philipp Michael, 21 hails from Ulm, Germany. Yes, that is right we have another gorgeous German on our hands. So many gorgeous men come that country, can't say the same for their women though, oh I'm just kidding. There is Heidi Klum and Claudia Schiffer. :) Only scouted weeks ago, Philipp has already been gathering major interested from top agencies. We're pretty keen to see who snatches him up in NYC.

Until next time, kisses. - B

Irving Penn Dies

Incredibly sad news. Irving Penn, the iconic fashion photographer, died last week.

Perhaps you aren't familiar with Penn? Oh, but you are.

The in house Vogue photographer (and Richard Avedon's rival), went from photographing models to photographing food but his work was always amazing.

He once described the art of photography as "one that communicates a fact, touches the heart and leaves the viewer a changed person for having seen it. It is, in a word, effective."

Thankfully, he helped bridge the line between excellent art and excellent fashion. And we will all be forever grateful.

Alexander McQueen Rocked It

Finally! Paris Fashion Week never dissapoints but I have to say, this year, it went above and beyond its reputation.

Chanel was great Chanel and Valentino was, well, amaza-balls Valentino. But some of the best shows were the ones that went all out.

Most notably, Alexander McQueen. Thank you Alexander McQueen. While he was certainly channeling Lady Gaga (he actually debuted her new single at the show), his show was lady fabulous. His collection, Plato Atlantis, featured amazingly dresses that can only best be described as zoo-chic, tops that looked like you are carrying a rain cloud around with you, and bodices that make your boobs looks on fire (literally).

As always, critics complained that not every piece is "wearable." I beg to differ. What's fashion without a little fantasy?

Down On The Farm

Who doesn't love a good old fashioned hoe down? There is that little piece of country in all of us, whether we choose to admit it or not.

Chanel's spring 2010 show in Paris was transformed into a barn yard extraganza. Under the glass ceiling of the historic Grand Palais was an unbelieveable sight. Chanel's double CC logo stood out front on a wood post and upon entering you felt like you just stepped onto a farm with a barn equipped with a hayloft as the backdrop.

"The rustic, romantic romp was a rip-roaring blast even before a platform popped out of the runway with Lily Allen and her band already singing anf stomping their feet," commented the LA Times.

Thigh-high slits added sexiness to city skirts and sparkly tunics. Tweed jackets with sidestraps had sleeves and collars coated in feathery ruffles and there was short hourglass shaped dresses in classic black and cream, some with flirty lace insets.

Chanel's romp in the hay was a huge success. It made the collection more desirable and romantic. The backdrop only added to the beautiful made clothing and soft colours of cream, oatmeal and white. It brought forth a playful side of Chanel that proved to be just what we needed.

Brigitte Bans Models

Well, not exactly. But sort of. Brigitte, the German fashion magazine, announced this week that it will no longer use "professional models." Starting in 2010, the fashion mag will only feature "real life" women in its pages.

"From 2010 we will not work with professional models any more," said Andreas Lebert, editor-in-chief, adding that he was "fed up" with having to retouch pictures of underweight models.

"For years we've had to use Photoshop to fatten the girls up," he went on to say, "Especially their thighs, and decolletage. But this is disturbing and perverse and what has it got to do with our real reader?"

He also added that readers "no longer wanted to see protruding bones [...] Today's models weigh around 23% less than normal women," Lebert said. "The whole model industry is anorexic."

As they say, 'them's fightin' words.' Or, more accurately, it sounds like Brigitte has it out for models. However the magazine, which reaches nearly a million German readers could be thinking women's revolution--or dollar signs.

What better way to save some dough in a recession than to recruit "real women" instead of paying fashion models for their work?

Lohan's Ungaro Collection Less than Stellar

The Louvre is rarely a place that receives criticism: If anything, it is where great art goes to rest for, well, the rest of eternity. So when Lindsay Lohan debut her "artistically directed" collaboration for the Spring 2010 collection of Emanuel Ungaro's collection, the boos that resounded were duly noted.

Well, perhaps "boos" is too harsh of a criticism. But, then again, there was certainly no applause: Lohan's ripped-offed Herve Leger dresses, ill-fitting pants and jackets, and bizzare fabric choices (aka tacky) were not well received. As noted art director Fabien Baron said, "Call the fashion police."

When will designers learn that celebrities are not fashion gurus? (Marc Jacobs, honey, don't be the next victim...)

The New York Times called it, "[S]omething akin to a McDonald’s fry cook taking the reins of a three-star Michelin restaurant."

Nuff said.

Coco Before Chanel

This year has been the year for fashion movies--whether it be spoofs (Bruno) or documentaries (Valentino: The Last Emperor and The September Issue) they've followed everyone from a fictional fashion reporter to Anna Wintour. And now the bio-pic about Coco Chanel has just hit theaters which is definitely worth a trip to the theater.

Coco Before Chanel has an interesting take on the famed designer. Instead of focusing solely on her glamorous Chanel years, the movie follows Coco, nee Gabrielle, as a young orphan and courtesan. Audrey Tatou plays the enigmatic designer who, despite all odds, forges her way not only in French society but in the fashion world to become the icon that she is now remembered as.

If you're in New York, definitely go see Coco Before Chanel at the Paris Theater. Brownie points if you rock pearls and vest.

Curves Are In

Finally, there is a designer brave enough to feature models who are bigger than your average catwalk model.

Mark Fast, a Canadian designer, put his knit designs on models who ranged from size 12-14 in his show for London Fashion Week.

The international world of fashion is abuzz over Mark Fast's concept of what size model is acceptable on the catwalk.

One report said it sparked a behind-the-scenes row that ended with Fast's stylist walking out on his show because of the new look. But the designer has now apologies for making room for regular women with serious curves, reported CBC News.

"I think it's time really, there's such beauty out there and it's unfortunate that it's only representative in one size...so it's just a new celebration of all women," said Fast.

The model in the picture above is a size 12 and I think she looks fabulous!

Pearls aren't just for Grandma

Who said pearls were just for Grandma? Well, whoever it was, didn't know about Mikimoto Pearls. I would say, even I, must admit to thinking Pearls are rather “old lady” and honestly wouldn't buy them. However, I am definitely thinking different now. I think every girl should have a pearl bracelet. My Grandmother always told me that pearls were for the ladies, she wears them all the time and some I realized are Mikimoto.

Mikimoto Pearls only take about 3-5% of cultured pearls meaning one of their pearls is, one of the best. If you’re going to get pearls you mine as well get the best. I loved that they make a breast cancer pearl bracelet. They make this Pink Cancer Ribbon Bracelet. The pearls are strung with pink silk thread and finished off with a Mikimoto ball clasp, in 18K rose gold. Don’t fall in love too quick though these pretty little pearls have a pretty, not so little price. These lovely strung pearls will cost you $1050 … yikes, put this one on your Christmas list.

I personally happen to like the Mikimoto Fire Bracelet, which is that the bracelet up there, but the price on this one isn't friendly at all, $9.800! Hey, quality costs! ;)

Jill Sanders. Uniqlo. Time Travel.

Jill Sanders Collection

So everyone, well at least me, has been waiting with intense anticipation for Thursday, October 1st. On that day Jill Sanders reveals her new line in Uniqlo stores around the world. I thought of how to speed this up, I thought about time travel machines and the like. Then I thought, what if I went to Seoul where it is a day ahead to get the scoop. It's like a time warp. So that I did, when the store opened they informed that it is being released around the world at the same time thus voiding my plan. So here I am with one more day and counting.

I took this photo to document my travels. As the photo illustrates Chang, In-hae has never experienced the pains of time warping.

Milan Fashion Week

Today is the last day of Milan Fashion Week and there has been a strong emphasis on boudoir styles, which is a trademark of Italian fashion.

Once again we travel back in time into your grandma's closet where her old-school wardrobe is revamped and reintroduced.

Most of the styles shown at Milan Fashion Week have a old-fashioned feel to them. All the lace, knitting and cotton is straight out of the 1930's. Its old-fashion chic in its finest.

"Corset tops worn over a jeans bubble skirt, panties peeping out of a pair of short shorts and bra tops veiled in silk chiffon all combine to create a romantic rather than raunchy mood," commented Daniela Petroff for The Canadian Press.

That's right ladies, the corset is back!

Coca-Cola Does Milan Fashion Week

Yes, I know. A bit odd. But hey, it is Milan Fashion Week.

Coca-Cola Light teamed up with various designers this week to feature "fashionable" giant coke bottles wearing various designer's labels.

The event, "Tribute to Fashion," was thrown to raise money for Abruzzo, Italy earthquake victims. Some of designers who participated were Moschino, Donatella Versace, Angela Missoni, Alberto Ferreti, Consuelo Castiglioni and Etro.
