Back to the Future

History has a way of repeating itself, and apparently fashion is no exception. Reinvention is a natural part of life; it almost seems reductive. Just ask Madonna and Lady Gaga. The people of the fifties probably would have thought that by the time 2012 rolled around, we’d be wearing nothing but space suits made of a multitude of fabrics not yet discovered. In reality, the world of fashion has taken to paying homage to styles that were originally popular in the earlier decades.

In the last few months, there has been a reemergence of the popular fifties and sixties styles. Think haircuts reminiscent of Grease, with their loosely but perfectly shaped coiffs. Rolled jacket sleeves and cuffed pants are also instrumental style choices that make up the rebirth of the styles of those eras.

With the tiniest of modifications, anyone can reach James Dean status. Who wouldn’t want that effortless confidence about them? So, ask your grandparents to break out those old flicks, and start patterning your outfit after it.

No Uggs Allowed at Philadelphia School

Pottstown Middle School in Philadelphia has banned students from wearing Ugg boots to class. This dress code enforcement made headlines because of Uggs’s reputation as the notorious eyesore of footwear. However, the school has a different reason for its new rule.

Principal Gail Cooper released a letter explaining, “We have been experiencing problems with some students wearing open top boots and carrying items in their boots that are prohibited in school,” which includes cell phones. People have spoken out against the ban, outraged at the strict policy. One woman said that the school may as well "ban their clothes and make them go to school naked." Students are now only allowed to wear ankle boots, and they cannot wear anything that's open mid-calf. Boots have to be laced up and fastened, so that no objects can be smuggled inside of them.

Uggs have gained negative attention before, in viral videos like the “Ugg Boot Vaccine.” Is this prohibition unnecessary, or fashion-forward?

Saddle Up in Style

Horseback riding is now the official most chic sport in the world of fashion. Darlings, saddle up, because the equestrian look is in.

Dressing like a true equestrian is like going for a leisurely (and stylish) ride through the rolling country side. Over-the-knee boots in rays of rich chocolate browns will do for fancy footwork. Oxford blouses buttoned up to the neck will not only be warm on these wintery days, but will also add a preppy, polished appearance to any outfit. Layering a fitted blazer over the blouse will guarantee a blue ribbon for best dressed in the saddle.

For a low key equestrian approach, feel free to pony up with leather gloves and toasty quilted jackets. All of these looks are hot to trot.

Oh, Michael!

Expect the unexpected when it comes to Michael Kors's latest edition to the tote world. He introduced the Hamilton Frosted Large Jelly tote this year, and it is already deemed as one of the "IT" bags for 2012.

Stepping aside from the traditional canvas tote, this bag is great for traveling, or just maintaining your city appeal. The longer chain strap keeps the handbag feel to a style we know so well. With all the great qualities of a handbag, including the double straps, Michael Kors ensures that the city lady can maintain her chic presence in the midst of her leather competitors. Priced at $268, a steal for Kors, you'll be sure to keep some extra cash inside of your tote and walk alongside the best of them.

Victoria’s Secret Launches High-End Collection

Earlier this week, Victoria’s Secret launched its first high-end collection, and it has been well received. “The Victoria’s Secret Designer Collection,” which features pieces created with European lace, ribbons, and sheer chiffon, nearly sold out on the first day it was available for purchase.

With bras that retail upwards of $98 and baby dolls and teddies that range from $158 to $218, the luxurious collection also features garter belts and undies for under $70.

It may seem as if this high-end line came out of nowhere, but there were actually bits and pieces of the collection featured in the annual VS Fashion Show in November. An incredibly secretive project, the company “took it in-house because [they] have a design team that has such a passion for lingerie and they differentiate Victoria’s Secret from any other brand,” president and chief marketing officer Ed Razek told WWD.

For all of you Victoria’s Secret fans, don't worry if you weren't able to get a piece from the current upscale collection. There are plans to distribute the summer collection to a total of 12 physical stores and it will also available for purchase on victoriassecret.com.

Tiffany’s Helps You Put a Ring on It

Instead of worrying about what to buy your beau for Valentine’s Day, have you been busy fretting about what he’s going to give you? As usual, Tiffany & Co. is coming to your rescue. The luxury jeweler is giving you a hand at strong-arming your man with their new “Drop a Hint” widget, an option on their website placed on the right-hand rail right above your wish list.

What exactly does it do? Once you’ve spotted the object of your desire, click the button, and you’re sent to an e-card, which you can fill out and email to your significant other. Below, Tiffany’s not-so-subtle message:

“Dear (fill in partner’s name): As you may know, Valentine's Day is fast approaching, but do not fret. A little bird told us that this will be a smashing success with (your name here). Of course, if you have other ideas for Valentine's Day, this is just a hint."

So, instead of sending your mother on the whole engagement campaign, you can just let Tiffany do the talking. But be warned: It may not give you the change in relationship status you’ve been searching for (read: you may be singing a different sort of "Single Ladies" tune).

Rihanna for Armani SS'12

Rihanna is back with another steamy ad campaign for Armani Jeans and Emporio Armani underwear.

Although 2012’s spring/summer campaign is a little more tame than last year’s backseat-changing, leather-filled campaign that showed us an edgy, blonde RiRi, it still delivers in the sexy department.

Lace lingerie, a silk camisole, striped hot pants, and a nice serving of denim is seen in the new campaign, shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Dawning a new brunette look, RiRi wears zero accessories (other than her tattoos), which really puts all of the focus on fashion.

For the second year running, Armani may have put together one of the best ad campaigns of the year, and this is only the first taste of SS'12.

Check out more photos from Rihanna’s sexy new Armani ad campaign after the jump...

Paris Street Style

Paris is undoubtedly one of the best places for fashion in the world. During Paris Fashion Week, the runways are filled with the hottest couture trends, and the audience sparkles with the high amounts of star power. There’s probably no better place for a fashion lover than Paris in late January.

But the runway isn’t the only place to spot some of the hottest looks: The streets are filled with the best of the best when it comes to street style. This past week, we spotted almost as many fabulous looks off the runway as we did on it. The streets if Paris were overflowing with the most outrageously wonderful fashion for the 2012 haute couture show.

One favorite look, sported by Rachel Zoe, was this sophisticated chic ensemble. One can never go wrong with the skirt and blazer combo, and Zoe knows exactly how to play it up with dramatic ruffles, a playful blouse, and, of course, amazing pumps. Zoe added sophistication to her ultra-short ruffle skirt by pairing it with black tights.

This look is perfect for a day at work, lunch at Bergdorf Goodman, or, in her case, alongside the runway at Paris Fashion Week.

Pantene Partners With Olympic Athletes

Celebrity endorsements of beauty products have become as commonplace as seeing a Starbucks pop up along every three blocks, so it comes as no surprise that Pantene is now partnering with Olympic athletes to advertise its products. Though the world's most popular haircare brand has never featured athletes before, its new marketing approach focuses on the importance of healthy beauty.

Pantene has selected eleven female athletes as part of its first international campaign to back the London 2012 Olympic Games. Joining the ranks of famous faces like Eva Mendes and Shay Mitchell will be Olympic competitors Natalie Coughlin, a swimmer for the U.S. team, and Evegeniya Kanaeva, a Russian rhythmic gymnast.

The idea is that these women represent the brand's view that health is beauty in its own right. Pantene representatives believe that the athletes are ideal not just because of their active and healthy lifestyles, but because their hair is left extremely vulnerable during competitions. The haircare products are advertised as strong enough to treat even the most damaged hair. With athletic women as beauty ambassadors, Pantene is advocating health and proving that it can perform just as well as any Olympic champion.

Designers really give back to the fashion community when they set out to design a line that is both innovative and inexpensive for department store shoppers. Nanette Lepore had created a fantastic line for JCPenney customers, alike. No photos or sketches of these designs have surfaced yet, but from the looks of her pre-fall 2012 runway show, it should be nothing but fabulous.

Bee the Change

Many rush to negative conclusions, but bees symbolize one’s soul, hope, and all things good in life. The "Häagen-Dazs Loves Honey Bees" campaign was specially designed to increase awareness of the serious danger faced by our bees. For those of you who aren’t aware, one in three honey bee colonies have died nationwide within the past three winters, and their deaths eventually put our natural food supply at risk.

Alex Woo has thankfully hopped on the bandwagon to help these little creatures and their colonies, and you should, too! With every purchase of a bee, 10 percent of the proceeds will go to university research that focuses on the honey bee crisis. If a bee has ever stung you, maybe it’s just because the little guy or gal is telling you they need your help! So if you are willing to splurge a little and "Bee the Change,"purchase a special edition Little Season pendant to help save the honey bees!

London Reveals Men's Fashion Weekend

Fashion Week has been a cornerstone in the fashion industry for many years. (The exact dates of origin are, in fact, arguable.) However, one thing remains true: That these events lay the foundation for what’s “in” and what’s “out” for the coming seasons.

In London, it is not unlikely for the menswear fashion shows to be held on a single day. It's a day when many designers, models, and journalists must become expert multi-taskers in order to accurately captivate and showcase the looks of the new season.

For many designers, a day simply is not enough time to properly show off brilliant new lines for men. For this reason, the British Fashion Council has announced that this year, during London Fashion Week, the menswear shows will no longer be crammed into a single day, but will now span an entire weekend. From June 15-17, it’s going to be all about the men. This new campaign will be known as the London Collections: MEN.

Dainty Rings Make a Statement

While we have all gravitated towards statement jewelry because of its large size and stylistically bold appearance, more delicate pieces are beginning to take over and make just as big of a fashion statement! Hopefully you are all familiar with the cocktail ring, which typically features a rather substantial piece of hardware, big enough for anyone to spot from miles away. But, as the saying goes, out with the old and in with the new. It is time for this once-trending accessory to step aside and make way for a variety of more charming and delicate baubles just in time for the spring 2012 season.

Jacquie Aiche offers a fabulous Shell Prong Waif Ring, which costs $315 and features five exquisite shells placed delicately in a 14-karat gold setting. For a less-expensive alternative, try Madewell's Foxtrot Ring, which costs only $15 and features a brass-plated fox head in a vintage gold color.

Chic, charming, and conveniently versatile, feel free to stack these dainty rings for a more eye-catching appearance, or wear one on its own for a slightly more subdued look. Whatever way you choose to wear this delicate accessory, you will surely be making a statement for the fast-approaching spring season.

Face Time With Lanvin

Geek just got way chicer, and this time around, you don’t have Harry Potter or Tina Fey to thank. French fashion house Lanvin just announced that they’re launching a glasses line for the spring. (After all, who hasn’t been dying to get a pair like head designer Alber Elbaz’s, anyway?) The fashion favorite, who just arrived on the sunglasses scene, as well, is sure to find four-eyed fans of its line of frames, which vary from thick, retro specs to the industrial aesthetic Elbaz is so well known for.

As excited as we are about Lanvin’s sunglasses, we predict all eyes will be on the glasses line — admit it, that cat-eyed pair pictured above has you rethinking your Lasik surgery. And, if the phrase “Lanvin eyewear” doesn’t already have you in a tizzy, check out this behind-the-scenes video of the collection. Talk about specs appeal!

Spring Couture Is in Full Bloom

The spring 2012 couture runway shows only began on Monday, but, so far, they have stayed true to the season’s flora and fauna theme. Giambattista Valli used feminine petal accents in most ensembles. In the spirit of spring, dresses and jackets appeared to be sprouting flowers. Christian Dior’s show was filled with light dresses layered with embroidered floral patterns. Animal prints came into the mix, and zebra-printed tops were paired with ruffled skirts. To add contrast, Giambattista Valli and Christian Dior both incorporated slick, black crocodile-textured jackets to their runway looks.

Chanel’s couture show presented structured designs in all shades of watery blue colors. The models wore sky-high pompadour hairstyles paired with feathers, which reminded us of peacocks. Armani Privé’s abundance of green pieces and scaly patterns also made it clear that spring is just around the corner. At Alexis Mabille’s show, the models were in full bloom with painted faces and massive headpieces designed to look like fresh-cut flowers. If the rest of the week’s shows follow this trend, it’s going to be a very lush season.

Guess Charms Charity

Fashionistas should never pause to support a good cause, so it's a good thing that the creative people behind Guess are offering a stylish braided band. In return, this elegant yet simple accessory supports a neglected child in Eastern Africa. Guess and Save the Children have collaborated to create this exclusive, limited edition slipknot bracelet in order to help raise awareness about daily death-causing issues in East Africa, like the massive droughts that the children have to endure.

The black bracelet is adorned with two platinum-colored beads, with a sparkling red bead placed in between. Wearing this bracelet not only shows love and support to children in Africa, but it also provides the funds that are desperately needed. With each sale of this LOVE bracelet, Guess promises to donate $20 to the Save the Children fund. This braided beauty, representing hope and love, retails for $30. It certainly is an accessory worth sporting.

Tangerine Tango With Your Beauty

Winter may well bring the blues to more than a few people, but those at the Pantone Color Institute have another story to tell. The company chose "Tangerine Tango" as the supercharged new color of 2012, and this reddish-orange color is dramatic and emanates a positive energy. An added benefit of this gorgeous shade is that it is much more wearable and elegant than traditional orange hues.

Just in time for beauty lovers to hop on the trend, Pantone is teaming up with Sephora for a cosmetics collection. The line will contain eye shadow, nail polish, lip gloss, and lipstick, and is due to hit Sephora stores this March. While this color traditionally looks best on a warm skin tone, it also makes green and blue eyes look stunning when used as a shadow. Women with cooler skin tones may want to consider sheerer eye shadows and a blue-based red lipstick, instead. Afraid of wearing such a bold color on the face? Opt for Tangerine Tango nails, a fun and easy way to pull off the look.

Balmain Hits Paris With Moves Like Jagger

It seems as if the menswear Paris Fashion Week has been a venue for which distinctively independent styles and trends have been married together to create something brand new. Balmain debuted their fall 2012 menswear collection just a few days ago, and this collection has taken the class and elegance of the classic preppy style and remixed it with the style reminiscent of a British rocker and created something utterly spectacular.

This collection may not boast moves like Jagger, but it certainly leaves its mark in your mind with its bold use of double-breasted vests, boots, and leather pants.

With so many different styles all being mashed into one, you would think that this collection just wouldn’t work. But that’s where you’re wrong. Each look moves naturally into the next while still encompassing an entire realm of tastes and visual interests. There are biker jackets to compliment leather pants, or military jackets to contrast them. No matter which way you view it, there will always be a workable look.

The Bigger the Buckle, the Better

Strap yourselves into your next outfit with a fun accessory that is sure to make a strong fashion statement, because big buckle belts are stealing the spotlight! While we have all used this particular accent piece as a mere waist-defining accessory, this fashion staple has definitely transformed into something bigger and better. Already attracting quite a lot of attention from celebrity trendsetters like Rooney Mara and Byrdie Bell, this stylish accessory will undoubtedly be popular for the spring 2012 season. Although these large buckle belts have appeared on the spring runways of acclaimed designers by the likes of Phoebe Philo, Yves Saint Laurent, and Lanvin, there is an assortment of affordable alternatives to choose from that won't break the bank.

If you are worried about splurging on this bold trend, try Banana Republic's Leather Contour Belt, which costs $50 and introduces a sleek, effortless look to any outfit in need of cinching. Lauren by Ralph Lauren also has a less-expensive substitute for this spring accessory, with a $38 Patent Stretch Belt that can spice up any outfit and help you feel chic and sexy. So, add this eye-catching statement piece to your wardrobe and stand out from the crowd in a stylishly cinched frock.

Best Party Ever: Chanel in Las Vegas

Chanel's invite-only, eight day event for the Numéros Privés installation began on Friday, January 20 in Las Vegas. Guests who included Alexa Chung, Gia Coppola, Diane Kruger, and Rachel Zoe were picked up in Escalades and flown in private jets from New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Clearly, our invitation was lost in the mail. (Just kidding!) But the private planes were only the beginning of last weekend's luxuries.

The actual installation, Numéros Privés, is a ten-room exhibit at the Wynn hotel in Vegas, dedicated to the house codes of Chanel. "House codes" are the timeless designs that become a designer trademark. For Chanel, codes include camellia flowers (Coco's favorite), black and white, and quilted padding. One room  at Numéros Privés was filled with carnival-inspired mechanical claws; instead of scooping up stuffed animals, guests tried to win Chanel accessories. Another room displayed a replica of Coco Chanel's apartment in Paris. A Chinese New Year-themed dinner followed the tour, complete with dim sum and champagne. Unfortunately, Karl Lagerfeld couldn't make it to the dance floor. He spent the weekend prepping for his show in Paris, which took place today.

Bouncy and Behaving Hair to Wear

While this spring may be all about going au naturale, that doesn't mean your hair needs to look like an unbrushed rats nest. There are plenty of ways to coif your coif without looking like a Barbie doll that aren't all that hard to pull off. Our number one choice for that perfect "oh, my hair looks good? I barely did anything to it" white lie you're dying to tell your friends is the bouncy blowout.

Now, the point is to look "perfectly undone;" however, there is certainly a process to doing this 'do. First, wash your hair (duh), and then infuse your dampened roots with a gel volumizer like Shu Uemura's Fiber Lift. Then, allow your hair to dry on its own to about 90 percent dryness. Part your hair into three sections horizontally and use a round, boar bristle brush for blow drying. When drying the ends, switch your blow dryer's setting to "cool" for a cold set. This will hold the curl at the ends all day long. Once the hair is all dry and fabulous, go ahead and throw in a few barrel curls just at the ends. Be sure to start halfway up your hair for a more natural look. Finish off the look with a spritz of hairspray, flip your hair and shake, and voila! Perfectly tousled locks that even Serena Van Der Woodsen would hate your for.

Getting in the Wedge for Spring

This spring season shows that the hottest shoes for 2012 are wedges. They are sleek, fun, and chic, not to mention they are easy to dress up. These wedge sandals from Oscar de la Renta can be worn dressy or casual. A bold shoe of this magnitude can be worn as a "dress to impress" statement piece or for a coffee run. The multiple horizontal straps give them that edgy look that we strive for as fashionistas. We want to stand out, but of course we do not want to overkill.

We know what you're thinking: What jewelry or handbag would be most flattering for such a killer shoe? Go with bold jewelry pieces and a nice triangular-shaped tote bag. It is in the best interest for all fashion lovers to check out these additional accessories. After the jump, we have a triangular tote from Akris, a bold wooden style bracelet from Michael Kors, and the ultimate favorite (and definitely last but not least), a "bib" necklace from Aurelie Bidermann. These trendy pieces will leave the world wondering, "Who, what, when and where?"

Vintage Tastes Like Buttered Toast

Jasmine Jarrett, co-owner of Butter Toast Boutique in Phoenix, Az., began selling clothing on eBay before the idea of opening up a store became logical. Fast forward to 2011, and Butter Toast is now in its third (and largest) location, right in the heart of the artsy meets hipster downtown area, just blocks away from Arizona State University.

The support that Butter Toast, a unisex shop, now brings to the downtown economy is amazing, considering how the company came about. Acting as the face of their business and remaining hands-on with their consumer base, Jarrett and her business partner, Traci Nelson, have a flourishing business that has received “Best In Phoenix” awards for the last two years.

“We want people to actually buy the clothes and wear them,” Jarrett told CHAOS. “We do small alterations to update the clothing. I think that a lot of the time in vintage stores, they just buy and sometimes their things are just too dated.”

Jarrett and Nelson’s attention to detail and customer service has proven to be a great strategy for their unique boutique. Growing one of the largest artistic districts in downtown Phoenix is important, as is staying green by recycling clothing, which solidifies Butter Toast’s position as more than your average retail shop.

Pastels Pop This Spring

Seeing spots? Hope not, because that is simply not healthy. But seeing pastels and flamboyant candy color hues sure is. It is now becoming a well-known fashion fact that pastels and dandy candy tinges are back in the spotlight. And boy, do they ever shine!

Philip Lim sent his girls dressed head-to-toe in pastels for his spring 2012 ready-to wear collection. Models adorned basic frocks, misty tangerine pants paired with sweet lilac tops, and flowing white cardigans. For those too shy for the tangy pastel pants, Liam created another pair — this time, the pantalones were pink to perfection.

Spring 2012 may have fashion fanciers transported back to the seventies, as style houses like Missoni and Alice + Olivia are doing their mod thang. Missoni sported a multi-colored pastel knit mini, revealing that pale blues and dainty pinks are not for Easter eggs anymore. Alice + Olivia was not shy when it came to showing clothes in bright confections of pastels. Hello, Pepto-Bismol pinks and sea-foam greens! Altogether, these cutesy garments look tasty enough to eat, but be warned: Just because the color is pastel doesn't mean there isn’t any edge.

Dorothee Schumacher's "New Divas" Collection

German-born designer Dorothee Schumacher may have found her footing updating basics for chic businesswomen, but her latest runway show at Berlin Fashion Week proved she’s really trying to brighten up the work place. The designer ditched neutrals for a bold color story that embraced deep rose, bright blues, and earthy green hues in rich silks. The line, dubbed her “New Era Divas Collection,” packed a punch with prints, particularly in her opening look which featured a structured silk shirt with voluminous shoulders and a matching pant, both in a busy red pattern. The designer continued to wow with high-slit skirts and dresses, as well as shiny, cropped cigarette pants, but she still maintained her classic feminine flair, including glamorous, seventies-style gowns.

The show really exemplified how the modern-day diva keeps her cool: When one model accidentally stepped out of a 4-inch heel, she simply smiled, took off her other shoe, and continued her strut down the runway. She certainly seems like the woman Schumacher had in mind — according to the designer, the muse for the collection is “clever and ambitious and goes for what she wants, but she’s also relaxed, feminine, and fun.” Sounds like our kind of girl!

Dawid Tomaszewski's 'Apocalypse' Collection

Berlin Fashion Week kicked off on January 18 and will continue until the 21st. During this time, fifteen shows will take place. It is expected that over 200,000 visitors will be in the city for the shows, which is the largest estimated number of visitors for Berlin's Fashion Week since it began in 1902.

Berlin Fashion Week always starts new trends. Since there are many fashion schools in the city, there are always new designers working. Along with having tons of new designers, Berlin also boasts a lot of variety in their shows, so there is always a show that will go along with your individual style and budget.

One designer making a splash in Berlin is Dawid Tomaszewski, who entitled his new collection "Apocalypse." This collection is all about destruction, death, and rebirth, and the theme shows in the clothing and makeup, pictured above. The collection was inspired by John Martin's paintings of natural disasters and the Last Judgement as it was depicted in the Bible.

Kate Bosworth Launches Denim Line With BeachMint

Earlier this week, it was announced that actress Kate Bosworth and her stylist, Cher Coulter, have come together in collaboration on another project for BeachMint.

BeachMint, a social commerce company that has collaborated with Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Rachel Bilson, Nicole Chavez, and Steve Madden in the past on every type of fashion need, is said to be launching the line to accompany Bosworth’s Jewelmint jewelry line.

Also this week, Bosworth, 29, released the first of a series of short fashion films to promote her Jewelmint line. Shot in lush locations like Morocco and Paris and directed by Michael Polish (Bosworth’s boyfriend), the films offer consumers a great look at her affordable jewelry.

“If we can create pieces in this price range, we’re going to corner the markert,” Bosworth said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.

Check out Bosworth’s first Jewelmint film, “The Look,” after the jump.

I Do? Revealing Wedding Dress Makes Runway Debut

Sheer fabrics may be in this season, but German designers Alexandra Fischer-Röhler and Johanna Kühl of Kaviar Gauche may have taken it a step further than we were ready to go. On Thursday, the fashion house known for its unique and eccentric designs showed a thin veil layered over a bondage-style bra and G-string thong that were more appropriate for the wedding night than the ceremony itself.

The rest of collection featured flowy, ruffled white gowns, some with classic wedding beauty and others with more contemporary looks, such as boxy button-up tops, pleated skirts, round collars, and skinny black belts. What we're raving about? The shimmering headpiece akin to that of a Greek goddess.

Berlin Fashion Week

Berlin Fashion Week, hosted by Mercedes-Benz Fashion week and held twice a year, is running Wednesday through Sunday. This event is ideal for emerging fashion designers who have trouble getting their collection to be seen in more mainstream fashion events. Austrian designer Lena Hoschek is showcasing her vintage collection, which draws inspiration from the forties and fifties on a more subtle note, due to the economic downturn.

Noir is another collection that will be showcased during this fashion-filled week. In the collection, you will witness the journey of an unknown woman and her suitcases. The silhouettes are long and lean, emphasizing the female body. The detailed hardware found on the outside and inside of suitcases was a key piece in the collections. The color stories also came from the tapestries typically found when viewing old suitcases.

Sarah Burton Keeps McQueen's Collection Alive

From the late legacy of Alexander McQueen came Sarah Burton to help his ultimate brand live on forever, and she has done exactly that. In Sarah’s new pre-fall line for Alexander McQueen, she took hues of black, red, green, purple, and classic white and black to drawn inspiration for this wearable line.

Flipping through the lookbook of this year's stunning pieces, it was hard to find a favorite; they are all exquisite in their own way. Burton has come up with high-necked, full-sleeved Victorian confections in black mousseline that she says has brought in the spirit of Charles Frederick Worth (fashion’s first couturier).

One thing that most critics and fans alike are buzzing about is that this line is a great example of the museum-worthy pieces that contain the legend of the late McQueen. The strapless, flared cocktail dress in pleated smocked velvet is in shades of green so dark they seem to drain the light straight from the runway. Another favorite is the caped black emerald dress veiled in lace that had different angles of beauty.

Burton kept some pieces on the simpler side, like cropped pants with white poplin shirts, peasants blouses, and jackets inspirited by menswear. Sarah Burton has explained that she will always want to keep the McQueen drama, but with a new fresh outlook on the pieces. This line was remarkably genius, keeping everyone at the runway show on their toes.

Boden Brings English Style to the US

Boden was founded in 1991 with only eight menswear products. Womenswear soon followed, along with adorable clothes for kids aptly named Mini Boden. It was not until 2002 that Boden launched in America.

The line can be described as the English version of J.Crew. There are lots of tweed blazers and breton stripes in the fall/winter collection, and bright colors and polka dots for the spring/summer.

Their adorable (and flattering) women's swimwear line has a lot of people talking, not to mention their always abundant supply of work-appropriate dresses.

They also offer maternity clothes, petite sizing, special occasion dresses, and longer lengths in most dresses and skirts.

Classic Beauty Rules at the Golden Globes

You know you've wondered what it would be like to look like a celebrity, but you never dreamed it was a real possibility. Thanks to the classic looks worn by famous faces at the 2012 Golden Globes, it's now easy to recreate the look of a hot Hollywood actress.

One of the top trends on the red carpet was the sultry combination of smoky eyes and nude lips, as worn by beauties like Lea Michele, Emma Stone, and Rooney Mara. To make this look work for you, pick eye shadow shades that flatter both your eye color and skin tone. Extremely fair-skinned? Go for brown in lieu of black. Feeling daring? Use colors like green or purple to smoke out the eyes. All eye colors look lovely with silver or gold. Choose a lip color that is one shade lighter than your own, and voilà! You're finished.

If you prefer playing up your lips, you're in luck: A bold red lip paired with defined lashes was another hit with the Tinseltown crowd. Angelina Jolie and Sofia Vergara shone in this elegant look. To create a long-lasting red lip, start by filling in your lips with a lip liner that matches your lipstick. Girls with tanner skin can use peachy blushes, while porcelain gals fare better with pinks. Swipe on a few coats of mascara and you're ready to go. Now there's no reason you can't shine like a star.

Zenga Shines at Milan Fashion Week

Do you ever feel like fast forwarding through all of this bitter cold? Don’t you wish it were possible to completely bypass the winter months and live in a perpetual state of autumn bliss? Unfortunately, scientists haven’t figured out a way to make that happen yet, but you still have something to look forward to next season.

The fall 2012 Zenga collection was revealed on January 16 during Milan Fashion Week. If this collection is a sign of things to come, then you’d better be ready to shine. (Literally.)

The collection boasts a plethora of sleek designs with eye-catching hints of shine, giving the pieces something of a futuristic feel. It is an innovative clash of styles blending traditional shapes and designs with Jetson-like colors and fabrics. The straight, clean lines gives the collection a classic, old-fashioned “dapper” look, while the bright purples and teals gives it a shove right into 2012.

Go the Distance: Long Cardigans

Last fall, we saw an uproar in maxi skirts and dresses. This winter, the maxi trend has continued — and it has taken the form of a cozy cardigan. Perfect for layering over any outfit or under outerwear (it would be very chic under a leather jacket), this Free People Moon Duster Cardigan ($88) can be dressed up with tall wedges or dressed down with utilitarian boots. The best part? They come in all shapes and sizes.

Try a thick knit cardigan by day or a sheer jersey one by night. Hit the floor with a full-length sweater or go asymmetrical with one that hits the knees. The options are endless, so ditch that parka and stay warm and fashionable this winter by maxing out and going the distance.

Anthropologie Says 'Hi There' to Karen Walker

Karen Walker's line for the spring 2012 season, Hi There, is also the latest designer-and-store collaboration in fashion news. Hi There will be exclusively sold in Anthropologie stores around the US by March (that's less than two months away!). Stars like Florence Welch and Natalie Portman are fans of the New Zealand native's smart and girlish dresses and quirky sunglasses. Hi There is a more affordable version of Walker's usual high-end designs.

According to currency conversions from Karen Walker's New Zealand website, the full price of a dress from her original line costs around $487. Luckily, it looks like a dress from this collection will be closer within the price range of $100 to $150. Hi There is a playful season of printed dresses, full skirts, and stripes galore. The lookbook is retro-inspired: Models pair the modest necklines with preppy white socks and oxfords. Their pin-up girl hairstyles remind us of a vintage Coca-Cola ad.

NARS Brings Cleansing Water to the US

If your current facial cleanser leaves your skin feeling dry and tight, look no further than the cleansing waters that are finally making their way to the US. Originally popular in Paris by brands such as Bioderma, these waters are free of oil, soap, and alcohol, and they don't require rinsing. Cleansing water acts as a cleanser and toner in one, gently removing makeup and grime in one easy motion.

Thanks to its popularity backstage during fashion week, cleansing water will be joining the product lineup at NARS. The high-end makeup brand is coming out with a lightweight version that will retail at $28. While the price may seem hefty, this product is much gentler on the skin than many makeup removers and cleansers. No harsh cloth is needed to scrub at the skin, which means you're not left red faced and uncomfortable afterwards. NARS suggests washing with a mild cleanser after the water, though the product can be used alone to cleanse skin with a few extra splashes. Check the NARS website for store locations.

It’s In the Bag

Trendsetter Raf Simons has done it again. The head designer for Jil Sander embarked in new fashion territory with his fall 2012 menswear line, an almost all-black collection that mixed super-serious leather garments with elements of whimsy, such as dinosaur and whale graphics. But the standout piece was an unexpected accessory: a lunch bag. Leave it to Simons to take two seemingly uncool things — a man purse (insert a Friends punch line here) and the act of brown bagging it — and make it this season's men's must-have.

We have seen quite a few businessmen toting greasy brown bags to work after a stop at the bodega, but they’ve never looked quite this good before. Perhaps because Simons gave this school-day staple a makeover in black leather as well as the classic brown paper (made with ultra-durable, reinforced material). Or maybe it’s because the designer paired them with flawless suits and trenches — definitely not apparel we’ve seen on any playground.

So, will this trend be as disposable as its brown paper inspiration? If the success of Jil Sander’s made-over market tote bags is any indicator, then guys (and the girls that shop for them) are sure to catch onto this new look.

Spring 2012 Splashes With Style

This spring, think of the fashion world as an oyster, because design houses like Givenchy, Chanel, and Alexander McQueen have some real pearls in store. Spring style is calling from the ocean. No fantastical mermaids, prickly sea urchins, tiny seahorses, or soul surfers were hurt in the making, but they were defiantly nailed to the inspiration boards.

Underwater love stories of mermaids and surfers lead to Givenchy’s spring 2012 creations, as a shimmery, sleeved sequin garment swam down the runway. Other designers like Issa floated a coral-printed maxi dress down the plank, while Chanel flaunted a fish scale-inspired piece. Snorkels or fishnets are not necessary for spring 2012, but a love for the deep blue sea is appreciated.

Prada's Red Carpet During the Golden Globes

During the excitement of Sunday night's Golden Globes, people couldn't help but notice actors present at a separate engagement: Prada's fall 2012 runway show in Milan. Despite the familiar faces of Adrien Brody, Jamie Bell, Emile Hirsch, Tim Roth, Gary Oldman and Willem Dafoe, attendees were mainly interested in the decadent pieces that each model wore. Prada's latest season integrates concepts like the smoking jacket with outerwear and crisp, high collars. It was a mixture of the late 19th century, twenties, and even the sixties. Yes, it's a possible combination; this show proves it.

Miuccia Prada added a different kind of machismo flare to each look. It may appear as black-tie attire, but most of the pieces are made from denim and cotton. Sounds comfortable!

So, what were the highlights of Prada's latest ensembles? Round, red-lens glasses (as seen on Adrien Brody and tucked into Jamie Bell's front pocket), deep-colored coats that looked like satin robes, flowers in lapels, and long, Victorian-esque coats. We have to admit, these actors on the runway actually did look "too cool" to attend the Golden Globes. Oscar Wilde would be proud.
