The Sartorialist Offends With "Bigger, Curvier Girl" Comment

Just when you think that those Lita's have exhausted their it-shoe status on the blogosphere, here they are again causing quite the stir. On Monday, the Sartorialist posted two photographs of Milanese fashion blogger Angelica Ardasheva. In his commentary, Scott Schuman says how he "loved that she's a bigger, curvier girl than most of the bloggers who you see in the press…" He even compliments her choice of "an equally strong shoe" for her "sturdy but beautiful" legs. More than 1200 comments and counting later, the response is not all x's and o's for the popular street style photographer. Some disagree with his choice of words, many are disappointed, and a lot are downright outraged (let's just say that if virtual glares could kill, the Sartorialist wouldn't live to spot another pocket square). The Italian blogger declares to have no problem with Schuman's comment, but the rest of the world seem to. Do you think that the debonair lensman has crossed the line? Since when did the words "bigger" and "curvier" become so obscene?

Perk Up Your Bookmarks Bar With These 5 Fashion Sites!

Gone are the days when the word "bookmark" actually meant something to mark a page in a book. With the plethora of fashion websites that are sprouting like mushrooms by the minute, sometimes it's hard to pick a few good/new ones to make your time on cyberspace (talk about obsolete expressions) actually worthwhile. Other than, ahem, this blog of course, here are five more sites that are bookmark-worthy for the picky, fashion enthusiast.

The Bold & The Beautiful: Full Eyebrows Are Back

Cancel that waxing appointment ladies, the thicker the better; well, for eyebrows that is. Full and thick eyebrows have been on the rise for the past few years. Yet, it was this last fashion week that this more natural look truly dominated the runway shows. Catwalk queens donned enviously full brows at Thakoon, Rick Owens, Jill Stuart, and Jean-Paul Gaultier, making it the red thread throughout the many shows. Even off the runway, top models who are seemingly everywhere -Arizona Muse and Constance Jablonski-make it almost impossible not to feel like we have been transported back to the good old days of the Brooke Shields era. This natural and fierce beauty trend may be a tad bold for some, however when you look at the list of pros any lady will definitely want to give it a try. The un-manicured brow does mean more hair, but less money, time, and pain-especially pain-will be spent on taming our furry friends. That's a pretty sweet trade-off for an iconic and inexpensive beauty trick.

New Prada Creation: Platform Lace-up Leather Oxford

For Prada's Spring 2011 collection, these shoes were introduced. They are platform, oxford lace-ups, or in other words, the oxford version of Shape-Ups. This is not a good thing. Yes, there need to be more shoes out there that are attractive and stylish, yet comfortable and not harmful to your knees or arches. However, this is simply not the way to do it. While Prada is one of the top high fashion lines out there, this execution of the platform heel, that would not normally be placed on this type of shoe, is honestly not attractive. The combination of colors-hemp and whichever foam material they used-completely clashes. An owner of these shoes might feel comfortable wearing these new creations, but a passersby watching her wear them
may not be so comfortable.

Cara Delevingne Makes You Wanna Bust Out Your Granny's Trench Coat

With her green eyes, bushy brows and blond, disheveled tresses, Cara Delevingne is a slightly off, classic beauty. Her name may sound familiar because of her sister Poppy Delevingne, also a model and a well-known socialite. However this 18-year old Brit definitely deserves acclaim all her own. Cara has been one of the main faces of international retailer ASOS and she currently stars in the Spring/Summer 2011 Burberry ad campaign, shot by none other than Mario Testino. If that doesn't amaze you enough, the girl has impressive street and red carpet style to boot. Cara's look expresses a striking blend of innocent and sexy; one minute she's your girl next door and next she's a sultry high fashion model. And boy, that Burberry trench coat never looked so fresh. Check out more of her pictures after the jump!

Affordable Fashion: Where is Our Industry Headed?

With the trend of "fast fashion" in high gear I can't help but wonder what's next for our sensitive, little world? Retailers like Forever 21, Zara, and Mango have been able to prosper during a global, economical depression. People everywhere are becoming much more accustomed to paying less and haggling more. Now, to add another nail to the retail coffin, is the occurrence of designer labels being forced to sell their lines on Ebay due to lack of sales. While the collection may not be the most "high quality" of fashions, Lindsay Lohan's 2010 line for Ungaro has now made its way to Ebay to make up for losses experienced in the market. With designers now creating lines not just as features for stores like Target, collections for retailers like Ebay, and now resorting to selling their lines THROUGH Ebay, what do you think is next for the retail industry?

Label Watch: Laugh Cry Repeat In Pretty Clothes

Laugh Cry Repeat was founded in Fall 2010 by the designers behind Anzevino and Florence, a high end clothing shop that closed its Los Angeles doors earlier last year. Word on the streets is that the duo had handed over their more accessible line to someone involved with the boutique Revolve Clothing to continue. William Anzevino has then collaborated with Urban Outfitters to produce the Upson Downes collection. As far as Richard Florence is concerned, well let's just say Google doesn't have the answer to everything. Its background might be a little muddy (the website doesn't even have an "about us" section), but the label itself is definitely worth a spotlight for its modern yet playful designs. Laugh Cry Repeat's Summer 2011 collection experimented with cut and fabric that resulted in clothes that you definitely want to frolic in during those warm summer nights. Besides, a little mystery doesn't hurt anyone, especially when pretty clothes are involved. Check out the collection after the jump!

Wednesday Adams for Miu Miu

Things over at Miu Miu have gotten spooky; with heavy, structural shoulders and a black, white, and orange theme, the fall ready-to-wear line feels like something straight out of the Adams Family. And we like it that way. Vogue called the collection "nothing short of old Hollywood glamour," and the over-sized brass buttons and pointed leather flats really are reminiscent of a by-gone era. Bold shapes and big bows aside, the collection is quite low key for the likes of Miu Miu, and many of the pieces are instantly wearable. Some of the highlights include adorable short swing coats in nude and black as well as bold, black dandelion print dresses.

Marc Jacobs Intern Loses It on Company Twitter

Last night, a Marc Jacobs intern who was responsible for running @MarcJacobsIntl went off on a rant on the company's twitter. On the last day on the job, the intern seemingly had a meltdown and went a little keyboard crazy bestowing bits of wisdom to potential new interns, tweeting, "Good luck! I pray for you all. If you get the job! I'm out of here. See ya! Don't want to be ya! Roberts a tyrant! Seriously! He is tough!" It's safe to say that the Robert being referred to here is Robert Duffy, Marc Jacob's CEO and business partner for 20 years. The tweets were deleted soon after.

In reporting the issue, gadget blog Gizmodo remarks, "Being a fashion intern must be brutal." Naturally, commenters on the "techy" site make a couple of The Devil Wears Prada references. Having some internship experience myself, all I can say is that this industry is not for the faint of heart. Fashion is not at all like living in a Gossip Girl episode. To companies out there (even non-fashion ones), just be careful who to give your passwords to. Social media is a crazy, crazy place.

Elizabeth Taylor: The Loss of an Icon

It would be remiss of any fashion publication not to take out a little space this week and make sure and mention the passing of Elizabeth Taylor, an icon in far too many ways to list. On the morning of Wednesday, March 23 at Cedar-Sinai hospital, the star passed away of congenital heart failure. The style icon and actress appeared in features such as "Cleopatra", "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof", and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolfe", the latter for which she won an Academy Award. Taylor was known for her spectacular romances; especially to Richard Burton, whom she married twice out of her 8 marriages. She is survived by 4 children, 10 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren, amongst her myriads of fans whose lives she has touched. Taylor's ability to touch so many people also comes largely with her advocacy for the Gay community, her role in AIDS research and understanding, and her timeless style which permeates the fashion industry to it's minutest of corners.

Her family requests any contributions that anyone might desire to give be given to the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation. Take a moment and let us know which Taylor moment you find most inspiring.

Trend Alert: Printed Trousers

While many staple trends from the 70's are dominating the spring market this season there is another popular trend, from a different era, that is perfect for the warm weather. Introducing the totally awesome and totally wearable printed trousers. Printed trousers are being worn everywhere. Vivienne Tam, Chris Benz, and Karen Walker all spiced up their RTW collections by including these bad boys on the catwalk. Celebrity trend setters like Rihanna, Whitney Port, and Leighton Meester have been sporting this look, bringing it to the streets. The 80's inspired trend is easy and comfortable and makes an instant statement without trying too hard. Paired with some killer wedges and a simple top, printed trousers are the perfect go-to piece this spring. You can basically roam the streets in your pajamas and still look fashion-forward; whats not love?

The West Is Dead: Premium Denim for Badass Boys

Fashion designers seem to all have unique back stories and unusual journeys. An unconventional beginning is just what describes the creators behind the new men's premium denim brand The West Is Dead; launching this Spring 2011. Having met while in Northern Montana, Will lived in an abandoned school bus and Kaelen in a modified horse stall. Perhaps their genius collaboration was a result of their rugged living situation but whatever it was, guys everywhere now have a reason to be excited to shop!

With a strong desire to "preserve the dying tradition of American craftsmanship", Will and Kaelen have created a brand that embraces the root of what denim is really all about. Images from their lookbook highlight the classic western attitude from which denim was born and not to mention masculine ruggedness with an edge. The line features rich indigo hued denim as well as mustard yellow, deep burgundy, and dusty green fabric chinos. The collection also features distressed washed denim jackets and simple knit thermals.

However, their efforts are not all about fashion. "The driving force behind The West Is Dead our mission to preserve, protect, and reclaim the American West." The brand works with an organization called the Inter-tribal Buffalo Council- a Native American run establishment- to support their efforts to help return buffalo (the brand's symbol) to their native lands of the Northwest.

Check out their website here to learn more about The West Is Dead and their efforts.

Stolen Girlfriends Club Takes A Trip To The Supermarket

Creativity is never lacking in fashion, and Stolen Girlfriends Club proves just that. The New Zealand indie label put together a show at the New World Supermarket in Auckland to present their latest collection, "Untitled." With the oranges, bananas and innocent grocery shoppers as their audience, seeing the models strut down the fruit aisle without the discerning eyes of well-dressed editors, buyers, and current "it" celebrities is refreshing. It's always amusing when the craziness of fashion is juxtaposed with real life. It somehow makes the fantasy that the industry translates into clothes, just that much more amazing.

IT'S THE END OF A FASHION ERA:BIG CHANGES FOR BIG NAMES!

Fashion month has been full of surprises, on every level for that matter.
You will need to pay careful attention to the following as it may be a little bit confusing; after Galliano's infamous incident in Paris, Dior started looking for his replacement. Ricardo Tisci was appointed to replace him at Dior, which raised the question on who to replace Tisci himself at Givenchy? Haider Ackermann was the answer as he replaced Tisci. Got that? Good, because it gets more confusing.
While the fashion industry barely recovering from the sudden changes, Vanessa Seward throws the bomb on her bidding farewell to Azzaro, and now the new guessing game begins on who to replace her!
I think it's safe to say that it's the end of an era, and the beginning of a new one, fashion-wise. Good luck to all designers at their new positions, for God knows they will need it with everybody watching their every step!

Arizona Muse: The Ultimate Muse In Marrakesh

To say that the Yves Saint Laurent house is infatuated with model Arizona Muse would be an understatement. The almost super model recently posed as the face of the house's 2011 print campaign shot in Marrekech by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. Now, she is the leading lady for their latest video campaign.

Directed by Stefano Pilati, the video creates an ambiance of classic luxury. Muse, delicately prances around an incredible Moroccan garden in clothing that is to-die-for. The only sound is that of a funky jazz beat, courtesy of Janelle Monet. Shot entirely in black and white, the campaign short is effortlessly chic and pleasantly soothing. I think it is safe to say that this video is enough to make anyone want to drop some serious cash on some YSL, hop on a plane and spend their summer holiday in the desert paradise. What do you think of the brand's latest campaign? Is Muse the perfect muse?

Aymeline Valade: Not Just The Flavor Of The Month

It's safe to say that Alexander Wang's reign as fashion's wonder kid isn't ending anytime soon. So when he says that a certain someone has captured his eyes, we drop what we're doing and turn our attention to whoever he's endorsing. That certain someone is Parisian model Aymeline Valade. The designer proclaims, "Aymeline is very special. She's the girl that I always think about, that I want to dress. When we met, I thought, 'Let's be friends!' She's the kind of girl you want to sit down and have a conversation with. She's not a flavor of the month, she's constant for me."

Aymeline (she's just one of those people you want to be on first name basis with) is a 25-year old classically trained dancer who also studied communications and advertising at university. Although she has already worked for Balenciaga and has posed for Interview magazine, her opening walk at Wang's Fall 2011 show is her NYFW debut. Aymeline's look embodies a sort of maturity and self-assurance, mixed with the right amount of toughness and cool. If she epitomizes the Wang girl, as the designer himself says, then we can be rest assured that her career will be a long and exciting one. More pictures after the jump!

Bianca Balti: Blonder and Better!

In order to be successful, models need to be fashion chameleons that are able to constantly adapt and change to stay fresh in a highly competitive industry. In the past few months models like Natasha Poly and Carmen Kass have shed their signature looks for something edgier. The latest model to undergo a major transformation? The naturally beautiful and brunette Bianca Balti.

Known for her unreal cheekbones, full lips and lustrous, chocolate brown locks, the Italian beauty was recently transformed from a sultry brunette to a platinum blonde. Bianca's new do was a result of an editorial spread for Vogue Germany's April 2011 issue. The editorial was shot by Victor Demarchalier and Balti played the role of one bad ass, rock 'n' vixen, leather clad and all. With her olive complexion and exotic looks, the nearly white hue she is now sporting is insanely fierce and not to mention unique! I can't wait to see more of the new blonde and where her new look will take her career.

See the rest of the editorial below!

Alternative Apparel Fall 2011 Will Be Anything You Ask And More

When accessories were added to their lineup, Alternative Apparel pulled off a Tyra and dropped the “apparel” in their name. Now aptly labeled “Alternative,” the company’s expansion includes their first ever store to be opened on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice, California next month. They even presented their Fall 2011 collection earlier this week showing easy-breezy clothes that had hints of seventies hippie, one of the biggest trends next season.

Alternative is known for their eco-consciously and responsibly made cozy basics, kind of like American Apparel without the pornographic ads and a controversial (to say the least) CEO. The presentation is definitely worth a watch. It was a fun show made even more enjoyable as the models strutted down the catwalk while The Silver Lake Chorus covered songs by Muse, Phoenix and Radiohead.

Alt's Plans For Paris Vogue Promises One Less Boob

On the left is Paris Vogue's April 2008 cover, way back when Carine Roitfeld still held her post as the magazine's editor-in-chief. Fast forward three years later, Giselle Bundchen poses in a white Dolce and Gabbana dress for the same publication, shot by the very same photographers. Anyone else reminded of bad Sandy and good Sandy from Grease?

In presenting the magazine's April 2011 issue to WWD, newly instated editor-in-chief Emanuelle Alt pauses to talk about a shot of Anja Rubik with her blouse open, showing a single nipple. "One boob," she said. "Otherwise, you don't recognize it's French Vogue."

Spring Essentials: What to Wear This Spring

It's official, spring has sprung in New York and left a lot of people suprised, too layered, and sweaty (it's not pretty...take my word for it.) Really that only leaves one thing: TIME TO BREAK OUT THE NEW WARDROBE! Ok, maybe you don't have the new wardrobe down yet, so it's time to get some new spring time ideas to freshen up that closet.

But what to wear? Here seems to be the general consensus of this years top 10 essentials for the warmer season!

1) Maxi Dress

2) Heavy Wedges (think wood, and leather types)

3) Fold over cross-body bags

4) The fancy jumper (just beware of bathroom breaks!)

5) Oversized hats (this year is all about variety for hats, you really can't seem to go wrong so go crazy and try every kind you can!)

6) Neon colors

7) Nude palettes

8) A-symmetrical pieces

9) Thrown together layers

10) Any kind of floral/tie die/stripe print. Prints galore!

So what will you be adding to your must have list?

TOMS Founder Teases With Mystery Box, And It's Not a Pair of Shoes

Every hipster to a forty-year old mom can be spotted sporting a pair of TOMS. They remain somewhat current and cool despite their ubiquitousness. This isn't surprising considering that their simplistic design and comfort are only secondary to the main attraction that is behind the popularity of these shoes, which is their one-for-one model. Buy a pair and another is given to a child in need. Who can say no to helping just by investing in really good, reasonably priced footwear?

CDFA Fashion Awards: Fashion Icon Goes to Gaga?

Among the young talent nominated for this year's CDFA Awards are the obvious contenders: Prabal Gurung, Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs and...Lady Gaga? According to Hollywood Reporter, this year the songstress will be given the "Fashion Icon Award". Past winners of this particular award have been comparatively subdued: Kate Moss, Iman, and Nicole Kidman are a few. Yet, to many, Gaga seems the obvious answer. What do you think? Is Gaga deserving of a seat among fashion's elite? Or is she just a spaz with a glue-stick?

Running In Flats

I am a sucker for shoes, heels in particular. However, as a struggling student who takes buses, metros, goes grocery shopping, and runs three flights of stairs for class, heels are a slow death. Sound familiar? Then, welcome to my world, where running in heels isn't as glamorous as it sounds. This season we've been noticing the slow but steady return of flats to the fashion scene. French fashonista Garance Doré admitted her strong love for ballerinas in her latest interview with British Elle, while a collection of brogues and oxfords are making appearances on the pages of every major fashion magazine. Could it be that flats might be (god forbid) next season's IT shoes?

What do you think?

Disaster Strikes in Japan: Tokyo Fashion Week Canceled

It is official, Tokyo Fashion Week has been cancelled due to the recent earthquake/tsunami disaster. According to several reports, the unreliable transportation, resource shortages, and general safety concerns are some of the main issues that led to the indefinite cancellation of the shows. Private showings of some of the collections are going to be held throughout the week and some will be shown online as well. This was going to be the twelfth year for the Tokyo's fashion week.

The Japanese retail industry is being greatly affected as well. Stores closed over the weekend and even after they reopened, foot traffic was down by 80%. Overseas brands that have stores located in Japan are taking a financial hit due to the recent natural events. Stocks for the country have plummeted greatly as well. Hopefully with all the donations and efforts of local designers, celebrities, neighboring countries, and other organizations, Japan will be able to recover from this tragedy and get back on their feet.

Chanel's Tomboys

During this past fashion season we definitely saw a return to modesty from certain designers, with higher necklines and looser-fitting silhouettes. At Chanel, a sense of modesty was there but with a boyish twist. Models strutted down the catwalk with a cool-elegance in lace combat boots and over-sized, tweed suit jackets. While androgyny is nothing new in the fashion world, what made the Chanel FW '11 show unique was the blend of polished femininity and tomboy-like grunge. It was the guy's gal wearing slouchy trousers and a sparkle encrusted blouse. This juxtaposition is certainly not unprecedented, however is it highly creative and definitely cool. Many of the looks from the collection were totally wearable and looked effortless rather than contrived and overly-done.

I look forward to seeing fashionistas emulate the looks seen at the Chanel show and I plan on giving them a try myself!

Check out the show for yourself in the video below!

Pray for Japan Gaga Style

With the recent earthquake and tsunami disaster that took place in Japan, over the weekend, many people are asking how they can provide aid and relief to those affected. Well, if you're interested in making some type of donation, you should definitely check out Lady Gaga's Pray for Japan rubber bracelets. The bracelets read "Pray for Japan" in both English and Japanese. The writing is in red and the bracelet is white; the colors meant to represent the colors of Japan's flag. The bracelets also feature Gaga's claw symbol and they are selling for $5 with all the benefits going directly to the Japan Tsunami Relief Fund. Check them out at her online shop (posted below) and make your donation!

March Inspiration: Vintage Kate

There hasn't quite been a singular force in the modeling industry that is comparable to Kate Moss. She was a breath of fresh air in the nineties from the Amazonian supermodel era of the flamboyant eighties.

Discovered at age fourteen, Kate was a child practically raised by the fashion industry. Her heroine chic look exuded raw, simple beauty with a trace of a night recklessly-spent by youth. Two decades later, she is still definitely a force to be reckoned with. Kate even surprised everyone when she recently closed the Louis Vuitton A/W 2011 collection with a cigarette in hand and the same charisma she's had from the very beginning.

In honor of la Moss herself and the decade of grunge (which has been making a major comeback), let's revisit some of the timeless images that made her an icon. She maybe "old news" to non-fashion folks out there (oh the blasphemy!), but she will always be the industry's favorite baby. Besides, where better to find spring inspiration than fresh-faced, classic Kate Moss? More pictures after the jump.

1950s Classic turns into 2011 Modern

On MODELS.com, Abbey Lee Kershaw was rated the #5 model on the top 50 model list in the world. She looks absolutely amazing in this Tom Ford ad. Her gray eyes seamlessly blend with her gray eye shadow and her plump, red lips contrast so classically against her platinum blonde hair. She makes these 50's-style cat eye glasses look like the most current fashion trend. She looks like a knockout!
By the way, there seems to be a trend in advertising with using lens-less glasses. It is absolutely obvious, but oh well, she looks so gorgeous that you barely even notice. The overall composition is retro chic and fresh. She almost looks like a completely different person from the Gucci Flora campaign. Not to mention, I am loving Tom Ford's new necklace with the enormous rock! Such a unique, organic look.

40: Something to Look Forward to?

Originally presented by Starbucks, the profiles of "The New 40" has spread wide over the Internet.

One of my favorite to read was the Yvette Quiazon, founder of whY-Q INC.: Global Marketing and Consulting Agency. Her best insight? In my opinion..."There somehow seems to be age dressing rules, but instead I think there should be three body-type dressing rules for women of all ages. Rule one: Use a good mirror. Rule two: Have common sense. Rule three: If you don't feel good in it, you won't look good in it."

Boys Town

Pejic (left) and Chiang (right)

Just when a girl thought the modeling world couldn't get any rougher, Andrej Pejic showed up on the scene. With his long blonde locks and flawless feminine features, Pejic has given some prominent female models a run for their money on the catwalk and in print. Pejic has strutted his androgynous stuff for designers like Gaultier, literally stunning lookers-on with his unquestionably gorgeous facade.

Now, David Chiang, a Taiwanese-Canadian, who Karl Lagerfeld reportedly mistook for a "pretty Chinese girl," has hit the spot-light and isn't looking back. In a recent HuffStyle interview, Chiang sounded like a full blown diva already, noting that he doesn't get out of bed for anything that pays less than $10,000.With male models like these two, it is making it that much harder on female models to land jobs in the industry.

Little Rooms

I do love accesories, but to me... a lot of them end up looking the same; that being said, it takes a lot to make me fall head-over-heels in love with a line. However, the jewelry line, Little Rooms, has stolen my heart!

The line features everything from traditional earrings and necklaces to the more unique ear cuffs as well as the aptly named "shoe armour." The prices aren't exorbitant and will definitely add that extra "oomph" to your wardrobe. Personally, I am obsessed with the Gum Frame Ring yet, on the other hand, the Seismic Wave Line is equally awesome. And lucky you, People's StyleWatch has the brand featured on their site with a code for 20% off! Go check out the line right now at the link below and find which piece you're going to add to your personal collection.

Tisci to take over at Dior?

While some people growl at the mention of Givenchy head Riccardo Tisci taking the reins at Dior, others find the geometric, hyperbolic designers a match made in heaven. Tisci has grounded his last few collections at Givenchy in flowing white with structural shoulders (taking a note from Japanese art) and his infamous skin tight translucent lace numbers that have instantly made it to the top of every fashionista's fantasy wedding list. Over at Dior, Galliano has winked at the past, situating his Spring collection in deep red ombre full skirts and dramatic poufs of feathers. The hair and make-up of the models only set the scene further, with giant lips, wavy pinned hair, and thin brows reminiscent of Marlene Dietrich.

So will the passing of the baton from one fantastical creator to another be a fresh breath at Dior or more of the same? Will we still see the dream-like Romanticism reserved for Givenchy or will it all be loud glamour from now on? Stay tuned for more...xoxo

Charlotte Free: New Girl in Town

You know that new girl in class who everyone talks about because something about her is just...different?

Five foot, seven inches and pink hair are not exactly the typical formula for a budding high fashion model. Editorials? Maybe. Ad campaigns? Sure. But this 18-year old California girl shook up the runways this season with a bang. One minute she is playing Bust a Move in an arcade and the next minute she is signed with IMG Models, the same agency that represents another five foot, seven beauty; Kate Moss. Charlotte Free made her first catwalk debut at Richard Chai's A/W 2011 show, and since then she's walked for Vivienne Westwood, Manish Arora and Topshop Unique. Jeremy Scott even declared her as his new muse.

And if you're thinking it's all just hair, Charlotte's youthful, energetic personality definitely shows through backstage shots. Sure, she may be more attitude and punk than an elegant gazelle, but the runway certainly is more fun with a little bit of color, even if it's just the manic panic kind. More pictures after the jump!

Louis Vuitton: Oh So Naughty!

The 2011 F/W collections came to a close today in Paris and the Louis Vuitton show was anything but a wind-down.

The collection is quite interesting in that it oozes an eccentric sort of sex appeal. The collection portrayed a quirky viewpoint of the relationship between doormen- in this case, doorwomen- and of prim, English ladies. The sex aspect featured thigh sheer socks, S&M patent corsets, and completely sheer blouses. However, the erotic factor of some of the pieces was offset with odd twists like jodhpour trousers, sculptured jackets, architectural skirts, and big bird-like sleeves. The show was a fabulous way to end the season and not mention a bit kinky!

Sarah Burton Does McQueen Proud

If you were impressed with Sarah Burton's work for the SS '11 Alexander McQueen collection, then prepare to have your breath taken away because the FW collection is absolutely brilliant!

Many people were unsure that Sarah Burton would be able to fill the very large shoes of the late Mr.McQueen. However, she won over the critics hearts with her debut collection for the brand with her SS '11 collection. Now, it is time for F/W and Burton has created a line so exceptionally beautiful that I think Alexander MQueen is looking down on her with a huge smile.

Amy Winehouse x Fred Perry

It has only been a couple of Halloween's ago when everybody wanted to dress up as Amy Winehouse. Even Karl Lagerfeld couldn't resist that dirty beehive and those dramatic cat eyes for inspiration on Chanel's 2008 ad campaign (and no Snooki, you didn't revive the fifties hair trend). Now, she's back with a pin-up inspired collaboration with iconic British label Fred Perry. And what happens when Wimbledon prep meets dirty fifties? Gingham, Hawaiian print, and the brand's classic laurel logo combine to make cute, sartorial magic. Check out the collection here.

The Russian on the Rise

Known for its frigid temperatures and vats of vodka, Russia seems to be a breeding ground for supermodels. Having graced the covers and editorials of countless fashion publications as well as walking miles of runway for the world's top designers, Russian models like Natasha Poly, Natalia Vodianova, and Sasha Pivavorova (to name just a few) cement the country's reputation for having incredibly beautiful women. The nation's latest talent to keep an eye on hails from Yemanzhelinsk and she is steadily making her way to the top; Irina Shayk is the Russian on the Rise of the moment.

Standing at a leggy 5'10", the sultry model has been gaining career momentum since 2008 when she was the spokes model for Intimissimi-at the time was being sold through Victoria's Secret- and made her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit rookie debut. Since then she has stormed the catwalk of Victoria's' Secret, appeared in Guess ads, sexed up the Armani Exchange campaigns, posed provocatively for Spanish GQ, and now she has nabbed the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit '11. She is now making an even bigger impression in the States with her recent appearance on E's Chelsea Lately and made the top 20 sexiest list on Models.com. What's next for the Russian beauty? I for one will be keeping my eyes on this potential supermodel.

American Apparel + Tony Kelly= Perfection

Thank the lord American Apparel enlisted the services of photographer Tony Kelly because, not gonna lie, the charm of raunchy naughtiness was definitely beginning to wear off for me.

Their latest print campaign for is seriously wicked. Featuring blinding neon leotards, funky oxfords, and some very cute but unique accessories; a hard hat, old fashioned headphones, and reading glasses sans the lens. Oh, and let's not forgot the the adorable and extremely limber model. All in all, the campaign is not only fun and kitschy but it still oozes that provocative, sexed-up attitude A.A. is famous for. Except this time it's done much more tastefully!

Check out more images from campaign below!

Trending: Max Out for Spring

Seventies hippie and nineties grunge collide this spring as a flurry of maxi skirts and dresses will surely pop up on the sunshine-paved streets. You no longer have to pick between sundresses, shorts and mini-skirts to celebrate the season. If you're like me, who doesn't plan on emptying my local drugstore's supply of shaving cream, lightweight ankle-length skirts and dresses are just what you need to add comfortably breezy options to your wardrobe that will last through summer.

Wear maxi dresses with tough accessories, cropped tops and open-toed booties with long skirts. Shorties (because not all of us are supermodels) can opt for sheer alternatives to show glimmers of skin. With these babies added to the game, getting dressed in the morning just got a little more interesting. Oh and don't worry, these picks won't make you look like a pilgrim lost in time.

Sophomore T-Shirt Maxi Dress (pictured above), Bona Drag; Sca Ulven Criss Cross Dress, Pixie Market; Motel Bleach Black Long Skirt, Pixie Market; Cheap Monday Kendra Wrap Dress, Nasty Gal; Cheap Monday Adriana Skirt, Urban Outfitters; RVCA Vanilla Queen Maxi Skirt, Need Supply; Arrows Pocahontas Dress, Wildfox Couture; Chiffon Double-Layered Full Length Skirt, American Apparel. Pictures after the jump!

When Feminine Meets Masculine

From the time I started seeing this model in all the latest magazines, I wondered why she was considered so beautiful. Obviously she has a unique look, but her look is so masculine. I couldn't move past that. Every time I see her, I wished I hadn't seen her. Then, I realized maybe I should see her in a different light. Maybe I should try to understand why she has become such a popular model. When I really look at her in this photo, to be honest, she looks perfect. She looks elegant, sophisticated, mature. She's the kind of model that sort of has one up on many models out there. She doesn't have to be sexy to make it in this business. While I know nothing about her as a person, she is who she is. Her hair is short, but it works for her. She doesn't have that cute pixie look that so many actresses have been starting to uphold. However, she owns the haircut in her own way. Her sharp features stand out. She has almost an icy appearance, but the kind where you know she has so much depth to her. She has a hard edge and she's not about to let it soften for nothing. She is a strong woman. I am all for that. Therefore, now I can't wait until I see her in the next ad.

Model Call

There is a new call to arms in the fashion community, one that I stand by wholeheartedly; a call for the return of models to magazines. Between the low wages for model spreads (even Conde Nast only pays $250 an hour for any model) and the increase in celebrity culture it has become increasingly rare to find a model gracing the cover of any magazine. Even once you've breached the cover models may be featured in a spread and product photos, but other than that it features more celebrities than the red carpet. And the line is being breached even further; just this past week Lady Gaga walked in Thierry Mugler's fashion show.

Yes, sometimes celebrities do a decent job during the shoot, but personally I think the likes of Crystal Renn, Jac, and Lily Cole make much more interesting subjects. So what's happening to the models? Do you miss them in the editorial shoots? Or are you happy with the celebrity trend?

Spring's Chicest Sack

Michael Kors Rattan and Leather Box Clutch at Net-a-porter

Peel open the ambrosial pages of any reputable fashion rag and you'll spot the same spring accessory, over and over again: the day clutch. Unlike its sleek and sparkly evening counterpart, the day clutch adds subtle structure to a designer jean and blouse combo. It's the perfect way to add sophistication to a beachy maxi dress and if played right, it can transition to a casual evening out. Opt for a casual woven clutch to add a bohemian flavor or a matte, melon colored leather.

The New Portfolio

I had an interesting encounter the other day, while applying for internships I actually had a firm request to see my Polyvore account, and said that if I didn't have one they highly suggested I get one and begin using it. I don't think I could even conjure a response; you want me to join a networking/shopping/visual merch. website as a part of my resume? To say the least I was a little baffled, but is this the new trend?

Label Watch: Sophomore FTW

If you catch sight of a double rainbow in the sky, you don't keep that secret gem to yourself, do you? Chrissie Miller's label Sophomore has been making basic staples with a twist since 2003. In collaboration with Madeline von Froomer, Miller creates collections that are inspired by New York City's Lower East Side. Of course, Sophomore is hardly news to anyone who's been paying attention to small but awesome fashion labels, that are in abundance out there. The epic t-shirt above (which is currently sold for a limited time here) however, is definitely one of those Sophomore gems that will always make the label as newsworthy as any "winning" celebrity.

Dropping Acid With Prada

Artistic? Yes. Unique? Yes. Psychedelic and a totally what you would hallucinate if you were on one? Hell yes! Prada's latest campaign "Real Fantasies" is embracing the 70's revival in more ways than one. Using a killer combination of collage art, funky fashion, and some really intense video production, Prada has captured and revived the essence of an era in 1:52.

With a video this "bitchin" it's no surprise that it comes from the genius that is Prada. Directed by James Lima, the promo features the brand's SS '11 collection as well as original artwork from the wildly eccentric, 70's art group OMA. The collection itself features oversized banana patterns, neon stripes, and wild-hued Mary Janes that is a kick ass mix of rock n' roll and classic Prada chic.

UO Catalog Ushers in Spring With California Sunshine

It's easy to forget that spring is near with the remnants of winter still lingering in the air (not to mention the fall collections and that whole Galliano debacle). No matter what my acquaintances from out of state say, temperatures are still uncomfortably low even here in California where Urban Outfitters shot their Spring catalog. Girls in bathing suits underwater? Check. A gang embarking on sunny escapades? Check. Impatient girl cursing the cold weather and desperately praying to the sun gods? Super check!

Stalk your local postal worker for the catalog and check out the outtakes here.

Style Spotlight: A Lot in Love with Lykke Li

Those Swedes definitely know how to hit the spot. They make my taste buds happy with their delicious meatballs. They provide my home with cheap, exotically named furniture (I love my Javnahker). And for the past couple of days, hours of sitting in rush hour traffic have become a little more bearable as I neck dance listening to Lykke Li's sophomore album, Wounded Rhymes.

This little Swedish delight has been making waves in the music scene for a while now, and her goth meets hippie style only adds to her mystical charm. With her alluring, never boring all-black ensembles, who says you need to dress in animal carcass and incubate in a giant egg to be interesting? More pictures after the jump.
