1.
Fashion Forecaster:
This job may sound fun and pretty easy-going. Who doesn't want to get paid by some company to travel around and snap photos of cool, fashionable people all over the globe? Of course, there is a select group of hipsters in Williamsburg and Silverlake who get paid to scout out trends for unsaid companies. The challenge here is to be ahead of the curve, i.e. Urban Outfitters. This could be difficult when they have their own crew of forecasters trotting the globe. If you can land this job you're pretty awesome, even though everyone will tell you it's a ridiculous job. Don't worry, though, you'll be making some cash money and the people with the negativity are just jealous.
2.
Fashion Closet Editor:
This job is one of the craziest. Trust me. I know from my time slaving at Seventeen Magazine that it does exist. The girls who run the fashion closets are, in fact, the busiest girls in the office. It is their job to know at any given second where a certain accessory item is, where the jacket sent in from Marc Jacobs for the cover shoot is located, etc. Needing to be highly organized is a main requirement for this job. At magazines like Seventeen it is their job to track everything down that comes in and out of the fashion closet. Don't feel too bad for them. They have a large crew of minions, aka interns, helping them out. This job isn't as glamorous as the title might make it sound.
3.
Fit Model:
A fit model is like a real model, but without the exposure. They are behind the scenes flying under the radar. This job is pretty easy if you can fit a very specific size. Fit models are usually a bit bigger than your typical fashion model, too, so no psychotic workouts or starving is needed. If you've got this covered, you can make some pretty good money for really doing nothing. That is, if you can deal with standing for hours while designers poke pins in the garment they are fitting you for.
